Environmental Compliance Policy For Pressroom Chemistry Products
Effective date: October 12th, 2007
Fujifilm Canada is committed to promoting and developing an “environment first” approach to the products we distribute. For our valued customers, we check every product coming into Canada for compliance with Canadian law, while partnering with other companies, such as Metafix Inc. to ensure our customers have recycling options for the efficient disposal of effluent.
In the past few years, Canadian laws associated with the reporting and disposal of chemical substances have become more stringent. This places printing companies under increasingly harsh penalties for compliance failure.
In order for our customers to clearly understand Fujfilm Canada’s terms of engagement with the complex issues of compliance and Eco-certification, we would like to provide a set of guidelines outlining the services available to our customers. They are as follows:
Fujifilm Environmental Compliance Standard Product Offering
1. MSDS and content verification for all chemical products (with MSDS Website publication). Fujifilm Value Added Services (Chargeable)
1. Sales and support of Eco Pro systems to assist customers in removing contaminants contained in processor chemistry (for the purpose of eventually disposing down municipal drainage systems).
Fujifilm Consulting Services (Chargeable)
1. On-site audits of effluent composition Fujifilm has an exceptional track record as an environmentally sensitive manufacturer and distributor. All our factories and distribution channels are ISO 14000 compliant. We recognize that some companies may also wish to exceed legislated environmental compliance in order to promote their company environmental agenda, thus Fujifilm offers consulting services through Envision Compliance.
The advantage of consulting services is to test the “real-time” on-site usage, mixing and disposal of chemistries used in the printing process. Standard formulation of factory processor specifications multiplied by a customer’s consumable usage cannot accomplish statistics accurate enough for “authentic” certifications, nor will they satisfy auditors. In cases where customers wish to obtain information beyond our standard and value added service offerings, Fujifilm Canada will offer to use our partner Envision Compliance, to provide a more detailed (chargeable) audit. To utilize the consulting services, please contact your local Fujifilm Account Manager.
2. WHMIS compliant labeling of all chemical products.
3. Disclosure of Dangerous substances (under WHIMIS and TDG).
4. Disclosure to customers of raw materials that may be over regulatory limits.
5. Chemical Processor specifications (published in documentation as well as through Fujifilm technical representatives).
6. Film/plate specifications (published in documentation as well as through Fujifilm technical representatives).
2. On-site audits of effluent quantities
3. WHMIS audit of facility
